Shaun A. Saunders is an Australian speculative fiction author and consumer psychologist who has written over 160 stories, and three novels.

His short fiction has appeared at Aphelion, Cosmos Online, AntipodeanSF, Escape Velocity, and Abandoned Towers. Shaun's stories are also produced as audio science fiction on the podcast Beam Me Up to which he is a frequent contributor.

His collection of 82 short stories, Navigating in the New World, has been favorably compared to Orwell, Huxley, Bradbury and Asimov:

Saunders’ doctoral research on the darker side of modern consumer behavior made headlines around the world in 2001 after an international press release in London. It was this research that inspired Mallcity 14, a wry and humorous view of ‘Big Brother’ and contemporary consumer society, which reviewers have favourably compared to other science fiction dystopias such as Fahrenheit 451, 1984, and Brave New World:

Saunders has established a regular readership over the past five years on the monthly Webzine Antipodean Speculative Fiction, where his stories have been voted No: 1 in twenty six readers’ polls. He was awarded Antipodean SF writer’s awards for 2003 and 2004, and holds the record for publications in AntiSF.

In 2005 he won the inaugural 2005 Science Fiction Short Story Competition run by the Physics Society and Dept. of Physics, Univ. of Newcastle, Australia.

Saunders lives in Newcastle, on the south east coast of Australia, with his wife, Linda.
